Description

Smooth peptide lotion from LA Peptides is a 50ml multi-peptide research lotion made with GHK-Cu, SNAP-8 and KPV. All three are well known in skin and cosmetic research.

What is in Smooth peptide lotion?

GHK-Cu is the copper complex of the tripeptide glycyl-histidyl-lysine. It occurs naturally in human plasma, drops with age, and has been studied since 1973, mostly for skin and wound models. It’s one of the most researched peptides in cosmetic science.

SNAP-8 is an acetylated octapeptide modeled on part of SNAP-25.

KPV is the Lys-Pro-Val tripeptide from the tail end of alpha-MSH. It’s small enough to be carried into gut cells by the PepT1 transporter, which is why so much of its research uses oral and colitis models.

Why a topical format?

Each peptide covers a different angle. GHK-Cu is studied for collagen and skin remodeling, SNAP-8 for expression lines, and KPV for inflammation signals. A single lotion puts all three in one formula.

Peptides are large molecules, and getting them through the outer layer of skin is hard. How far they get, and in what amounts, is still an open research question, which is exactly what topical formulas are used to study.

A lotion also avoids the cold storage and mixing that a vial needs. It’s ready to apply straight from the pump, in a measured amount, which keeps application consistent from one test to the next.

Research background

Loren Pickart first described GHK in 1973, after noticing that plasma from young people made old liver tissue behave younger in culture. Most later work has looked at skin: collagen production, wound models and gene expression in cell cultures. It’s also one of the most used peptides in cosmetic formulas.

Lipotec, a Spanish ingredients company, developed both Argireline and SNAP-8. Most of the data comes from cell assays and short cosmetic studies on expression lines.

Most of the published work is in mouse models of colitis and in cultured intestinal and skin cells. A 2008 study in Gastroenterology showed that PepT1 carries KPV into gut cells, and later groups tried packaging it in nanoparticles for gut delivery.

How to store Smooth peptide lotion

Keep the Smooth peptide lotion bottle closed at room temperature or in the fridge, away from heat and direct sunlight. Wipe the pump nozzle after use, and don’t add water or other products to the bottle.

Applying a consistent amount

Pump bottles help with consistency, since each full press gives roughly the same amount. Prime the pump on first use, then count presses instead of estimating by eye. Record the number of presses and the area covered in your notes.

Check the lotion before each use. If the color, smell or texture changes noticeably, start a fresh bottle.
