Description
BAC water from LA Peptides is sterile bacteriostatic water in a 10ml vial, with 0.9% benzyl alcohol added. It’s the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilized peptides.
What is BAC water?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with a small amount of benzyl alcohol, 0.9% in this case. The benzyl alcohol stops bacteria from growing, which means you can draw from the same vial more than once.
That’s the difference from plain sterile water, which is single-use. Once sterile water is opened, it should be thrown away, while BAC water stays usable for up to 28 days after the first puncture if you keep it cold.
How much BAC water do you need?
Most 5mg to 20mg peptide vials are reconstituted with 1 to 3ml of water, so one 10ml vial of BAC water usually covers three to five peptide vials. Larger amounts, like NAD+ or glutathione, need more.
If you’re ordering several peptides, add a vial of BAC water for every three or four of them. It’s cheap, and running out halfway through a study is a nuisance.
BAC water specifications
- Contents: sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol
- Volume: 10ml
- Container: sealed glass vial with rubber stopper
- SKU: LAP-BAC-10
- Use: laboratory research only
How to use it
Draw the amount you need with a sterile syringe and add it slowly down the inside wall of the peptide vial. Swirl gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake.
Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab before every draw, and write the date you opened it on the label.
For background on benzyl alcohol as a preservative in multi-use vials, see this PubMed search.
Storage
Store unopened vials at room temperature, away from light. After the first puncture, keep it in the fridge and use it within 28 days.
Goes well with
- BPC-157 10mg, pentadecapeptide (15 amino acids)
- TB500 10mg, thymosin beta-4 fragment
- Acetic Acid 10ml, 10ml vial
- Peptide Case, hard plastic case

When to replace a vial
Throw it out if the liquid turns cloudy, if you see particles, or if 28 days have passed since the first puncture. It’s an inexpensive item, and an old vial isn’t worth the risk to a peptide that costs far more.
Good habits when reconstituting
Use a new sterile syringe for every draw, and never put a used needle back into the vial. Draw slightly more than you need, push the air bubbles out, then adjust to the exact volume.
Aim the stream at the glass wall of the peptide vial, not at the powder. Some peptides foam or clump if the water hits them hard. Then swirl gently, or simply let the vial sit in the fridge for a few minutes until it dissolves on its own.
BAC water FAQ
What is it used for?
Reconstituting lyophilized peptides and other freeze-dried research compounds.
How much is in each vial?
10ml.
Can I use it more than once?
Yes. The benzyl alcohol keeps it usable for up to 28 days after opening.
Does BAC water expire?
Unopened vials carry an expiry date on the label. Once punctured, use it within 28 days.
Is it the same as sterile water?
No. Sterile water has no preservative and is single-use. BAC water has 0.9% benzyl alcohol, so it can be used more than once.
Is it for injection in people?
No. It’s sold for laboratory research use only.
