Description
MOTS-C 10mg ships as a sealed vial holding 10mg of lyophilized powder. Every batch has its own certificate of analysis, and you can pull it up by scanning the QR code on the side of the label. It’s sold for laboratory research only.
What is MOTS-C?
MOTS-C is a 16-amino-acid peptide (Met-Arg-Trp-Gln-Glu-Met-Gly-Tyr-Ile-Phe-Tyr-Pro-Arg-Lys-Leu-Arg) coded inside mitochondrial DNA, in the gene for 12S ribosomal RNA. Peptides coded by mitochondria were a surprise when they turned up, and MOTS-C is the best studied one.
Cells under metabolic stress send it to the nucleus, where it affects genes for energy use. It also activates AMPK, the cell’s main energy sensor.

Research background
Changhan Lee’s lab at the University of Southern California described MOTS-C in 2015. In that first paper, mice given MOTS-C were protected from diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance. Later work tied it to exercise capacity in older mice.
Blood levels fall with age in humans. Clinical data is still very early.

Batch testing and the COA
The QR code isn’t decoration. It links to the certificate of analysis for the exact batch in your hand, so you aren’t relying on a generic sheet. Check the lot number, the date and the purity result for MOTS-C 10mg before you open it.
Keep a copy of the COA with your lab notes. It makes it much easier to compare results between batches later on.
Which MOTS-C size is right for you?
We sell MOTS-C in three sizes. The bigger vials cost less per milligram, and the smaller ones mean less waste if you only need a little for a short study.
- MOTS-C 10mg: $69.99, about $7 per mg (this page)
- MOTS-C 20mg: $119.99, about $6 per mg
- MOTS-C 40mg: $199.99, about $5 per mg
Not sure? The MOTS-C 10mg vial is a sensible place to start. You can also look at MOTS-C 20mg and MOTS-C 40mg.
MOTS-C 10mg reconstitution and concentration
How much liquid you add decides the concentration. For a MOTS-C 10mg vial:
- 1ml of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/ml
- 2ml of bacteriostatic water gives 5mg/ml
- 3ml of bacteriostatic water gives about 3.33mg/ml
Less liquid gives a stronger solution, more liquid gives a weaker one. Write down what you used, right on the vial, so nobody has to guess later.
Storage and reconstitution
Store the vial cold and dark. A fridge is fine for weeks, and a freezer is better for months. Give it a few minutes at room temperature before opening.
Most labs reconstitute it with bacteriostatic water. Let the water run down the side of the vial instead of straight onto the powder, then swirl until it’s clear. Keep the solution in the fridge afterward. A peptide case helps if vials travel between benches.
