Description
AOD-9604 from LA Peptides comes as 10mg of lyophilized powder in a sealed glass vial, made for laboratory research. Every batch has its own certificate of analysis, and you can pull it up by scanning the QR code on the side of the label.
What is AOD-9604?
AOD-9604 is a modified fragment of human growth hormone, amino acids 176 to 191, with an extra tyrosine on one end. That piece of growth hormone is the part linked to fat metabolism.
On its own, the fragment doesn’t act like growth hormone. It doesn’t raise IGF-1 and doesn’t affect blood sugar the way the full hormone does.

Research so far
Frank Ng’s group at Monash University in Melbourne developed it, and Metabolic Pharmaceuticals ran human weight-loss trials in the early 2000s. A larger trial in 2007 didn’t show enough effect, and development as an obesity drug stopped.
Researchers have since looked at it in cartilage and joint models. It isn’t approved as a drug.

What’s on the certificate of analysis
Scan the QR code on the label and the certificate of analysis for that batch opens on your phone. A peptide COA usually lists the lot number, the test date, purity by HPLC and identity by mass spectrometry. Before you start, check that the lot number on the COA matches the one on your vial.
Saving the COA alongside your records is a small habit that pays off when you’re comparing one batch with the next.
AOD-9604 reconstitution and concentration
How much liquid you add decides the concentration. For this vial holding 10mg:
- 1ml of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/ml
- 2ml of bacteriostatic water gives 5mg/ml
- 3ml of bacteriostatic water gives about 3.33mg/ml
Pick a volume that makes your measurements easy, then write the concentration and the date on the vial. It’s a small step that saves confusion a week later.
How to reconstitute and store it
Keep the sealed vial in the fridge, or in the freezer if you won’t get to it for a few months. Before you open it, let it come to room temperature so moisture doesn’t condense inside.
Most labs reconstitute it with bacteriostatic water. Run the liquid slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently. Don’t shake it. Once mixed, keep it refrigerated and use it within a few weeks. A peptide case helps if vials travel between benches.
