Description
The PT141 Oxytocin spray by LA Peptides is a 10ml nasal spray bottle containing 10mg of PT-141 and 10mg of Oxytocin in buffered solution. It skips the reconstitution step entirely, which saves time on the bench.
What’s in the PT141 Oxytocin spray?
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a cyclic heptapeptide that acts on MC3 and MC4 melanocortin receptors in the brain. It was developed from Melanotan II.
Oxytocin is a nine-amino-acid peptide hormone with a disulfide ring. It was the first peptide hormone ever synthesized, back in 1953. Social behavior researchers have studied it for decades.
PT-141 and oxytocin both act in the brain, through different receptors: melanocortin receptors for PT-141 and the oxytocin receptor for oxytocin. Oxytocin has a long history of intranasal research, so pairing the two in a spray is a natural fit.

Why researchers use the spray format
Nasal delivery is its own area of study, especially for peptides that act on the brain, because the nasal lining sits close to the central nervous system. A premixed spray keeps that kind of work simple.
The trade-off is shelf life. A solution doesn’t keep as long as freeze-dried powder, so plan to use the bottle within a few weeks of opening.

Research background
Each peptide in the spray has its own research history, covered on the single product pages linked below. For a starting point in the literature, try this PubMed search.
How to store the PT141 Oxytocin spray
Refrigerate the bottle and keep it capped when it isn’t in use. The first few pumps prime the spray mechanism, so expect to waste a little at the start. Keep the nozzle clean between uses.
Use it within about 30 days of opening, and don’t swap nozzles between bottles.

Keeping track of a spray bottle
Write the date you opened the PT141 Oxytocin spray on the label. Note how many pumps you use per session and how many went into priming, so you know roughly how much is left. If the pump delivers about 0.1ml per press, a 10ml bottle gives around 100 presses, so a simple tally tells you when to reorder.
Keep the lot number in your notes too. If you switch to a new bottle partway through a study, you’ll know which results came from which batch.
