Description
SS-31 50mg ships as a sealed vial holding 50mg of lyophilized powder. Every batch has its own certificate of analysis, and you can pull it up by scanning the QR code on the side of the label. It’s sold for laboratory research only.
What is SS-31?
SS-31, also called elamipretide, is a four-amino-acid peptide: D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2. It alternates positive charges with aromatic rings, a design that lets it slip through cell membranes and collect in mitochondria.
Once there, it binds cardiolipin, a fat that’s found almost only in the inner mitochondrial membrane and that holds the energy-making machinery in place.

Research background
Hazel Szeto and Peter Schiller designed it in the early 2000s; SS stands for Szeto-Schiller. Stealth BioTherapeutics took it into clinical trials for mitochondrial diseases, including primary mitochondrial myopathy and Barth syndrome.
It’s one of the few mitochondria-targeted peptides with real human trial data. This vial is research material, not the clinical product.

Batch testing and the COA
The QR code isn’t decoration. It links to the certificate of analysis for the exact batch in your hand, so you aren’t relying on a generic sheet. Check the lot number, the date and the purity result for SS-31 50mg before you open it.
Keep a copy of the COA with your lab notes. It makes it much easier to compare results between batches later on.
Which SS-31 size is right for you?
We sell SS-31 in two sizes. The larger vial costs less per milligram, and the smaller one makes sense if you only need a little.
- SS-31 10mg: $49.99, about $5 per mg
- SS-31 50mg: $150, about $3 per mg (this page)
Not sure? The SS-31 50mg vial is the better value if you go through a lot. You can also look at SS-31 10mg.
SS-31 50mg reconstitution and concentration
How much liquid you add decides the concentration. For a SS-31 50mg vial:
- 2ml of bacteriostatic water gives 25mg/ml
- 5ml of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/ml
Less liquid gives a stronger solution, more liquid gives a weaker one. Write down what you used, right on the vial, so nobody has to guess later.
Storage and reconstitution
Store the vial cold and dark. A fridge is fine for weeks, and a freezer is better for months. Give it a few minutes at room temperature before opening.
Most labs reconstitute it with bacteriostatic water. Let the water run down the side of the vial instead of straight onto the powder, then swirl until it’s clear. Keep the solution in the fridge afterward. A peptide case helps if vials travel between benches.
